Rose Tinted Cardigan

Here it is finally finished… modelled by my stunt double.

Pattern is not my own but one from Vogue Knitting and is in an aran weight.  It’s definately more feminine than I would normally knit but I love it.  B attempted to take photos of me in it but obviously they were quality and it looks much better on the mannequin.

The bear’s paws on the end of the sleeves don’t look quite like that when in it’s on but not suprisingly B’s mum has stated that I seem to have made the sleeves to long, and they may be but as far as Mary’s concerned ‘It’s the pattern’.

 Sleeve edge detail.

To Do List 10 – Times on List in Brackets

 New

* Sort out garden, this should possibly be make a garden from the scrub land it is now…

I always wanted acres and had a vision of gardening in flowery dress and floppy sun hat (not that I tend to wear that kind of thing at the best of times) but so far our garden has leant more towards steel toed boots, sledgehammers and thermal vests.

Still Hanging About – but started

* Aran cardigan for me in rose tinted colour (8) – This one is now getting embarrassing

* Post patterns and knitting to Ravelry (8) – As is this one

* Make 3 baby presents (7) – They only get embarrassing at 8 (that’s times on the list not the age of the babies)

* Don’t postpone doing To Do List in an attempt to mark something off it – Just do the list on a Monday morning

Done

 Well I have done seven little Myeloma Buddies. Here’s four of them, the others won’t have been received yet.

This is the one my sister in law has named Milo, here he’s guarding my sewing machine.  My eldest nephew is a little concerned Gillian is looking after him better than them.  Just kidding, Gill!

Long Term Goals

* Discover cause of myeloma

* Build own house

To Do List 9 – times on list in brackets

 New

 Knit five Myeloma Buddies

 New and Done

 * Organise little birthday party for Saturday – catering provided by Leah Jayne who is completely recommended and had nothing to do with my vomiting.  My brother in law ate two cup cakes and took at third home and he is so fussy it’s untrue (correct me if I’m wrong Gill)

Still Hanging About – but started

 * Aran cardigan for me in rose tinted colour (7) – well up the second sleeve, just need another front and collar

* Post patterns and knitting to Ravelry (7) – now still got five knitted items on

* Make 3 baby presents (6) – one still actually started! – I have now bought fabric for the other two from a very nice fabric shop called Mandors in Edinburgh and Cabbage Patch Fabrics on the way there.

* Don’t postpone doing To Do List in an attempt to mark something off it – ooops a whole week late, but I was de-stem celled, holidayed, birthdayed, partyed and vomited in the space of that week

Done

* Make cards and other stuff for lady who is fund raising for Myeloma UK and here it is – considering I was going to do bags and cards it got a bit diverse.

Cards – all two of them!

(We’ll speak of these no more)

Fabric ‘carrier’ bags

Felted rose brooches – I had bits of blooms and leaves hanging about and thought I know I’ll make them into brooches

 Pencil Toppers

I don’t want any comments on the frog!

Wristbands – three of them but only the top one passed quality control because I ran out of stitch and tear and used something else that was un-named from the bazaar that is our local fabric shop the other two though possibly wearable are certainly not sellable

And to make up for the lack of cards some things I had already done – some baby hats and a handknit bag

Long Term Goals

* Discover cause of myeloma

* Build own house – okay so maybe my dreams of actually laying some of the bricks and nailing on roof tiles may not be achievable anymore but I suddenly realised I still want to do this someday

To Do List 8 – Times on List in Brackets

New

* Discover cause of myeloma – what the hell – you’ve got to dream big – although this one might be on the list for a while ;o)

Still Hanging About – not started

Done

* Power of Attorney for mother in law

* Make cards for Sunflowers Centre – I only finished eight and was still carding when my lift arrived. They seemed to go down well I got a hug and told they were lovely/beautiful on three separate occasions, so she either like them or was a very good fibber!

We have photos…

but not of my hair yet. B did take some but I don’t know who of it certainly wasn’t me. Whoever he took had short purple hair and looked FAT.

We went to the eye clinic today just for a check up because when I had shingles last year they were near by left eye (everything is fine). I wanted to get the nosebands in the post and because we’ve had Tommy Ticklemouse again since Friday I didn’t have time to get them parcelled up before going I took them with me. So I sat in one waiting room folding them up and then sat in another stuffing all 23 of them into an C4 size envelope with Bernard saying constantly ‘There’s no way they are going to fit. You should have used two’. I could feel people watching curiously and the pressure was on but I managed to get them all in then had a bit of time getting them in the post box at the hospital.

As a little aside is there anybody other than my husband that considers that this is the appropriate storage location for toilet roll?

To Do List 5

New

*  Make cards for Sunflowers Centre.  This is where the Blood Support Group is held and this year Sunflowers is the Liverpool Chamber of Commerce sponsored charity and someone there suggested that since the staff are constantly buying cards it would be a good idea to put a box of cards in reception and the proceeds go to Sunflowers.  So I kind of volunteered to make some – ASAP

*  Make cards and other stuff for lady who is fund raising for Myeloma UK – by end of month

*  Power of Attorney for mother in law – sounds like a reasonable swap

Still Hanging About – not started

*  Make 3 baby presents (2)

 Still Hanging About – but started

 *  Sister in law’s birthday present (3) – needed for 28 Feb this year

*  Aran cardigan for me in rose tinted colour (3)

*  Post patterns and knitting to Ravelry (3) – now got three knitted items on

*  Pattern for colourful baby blanket in squares (2) – again if four rows count

 Done

*  Make nosebands for donkeys (4)  – it’s been hanging about for so long I had to wait to post the list until they were done.  There’ll be some comfy donkeys in Palestine courtesy of left over fleece and recycled Velcro.  How do you recycle Velcro I here you ask.  Well you sew one piece to pelmets and staple other to self made pelmet board then realise after two weeks of sticking the pelmet back up that the idea of using Velcro so they would be easier to take down and wash isn’t a goer.  So you unpick all the Velcro from the pelmet, unstaple it from the board and staple the pelmet straight to the board and never take it down.

Photo of donkey nosebands – What you can’t see it? – When I opened a blog to learn stuff I couldn’t decide between blogger and wordpress so because I didn’t know which was best I opened both.  At weekend I decided WordPress was for me since then I tried to add a widget to the list over there —> and lost everything else, I did find out how to alter things when getting them back but couldn’t remember what it was I wanted to add.  And now I can’t get photos on.  In the process I have added 11 to the Gallery (is that enough to charge admission).  So for the time being a little imagination is required.

*  Dinosaur Tested by Tommy Toy

Photo of happy, smiley black floral T-Rex type dinosaur (give that imagination a bit of a work out)

I also finished a baby jacket and hat that have been hanging about for ages (since approximately 1999, yes you read me right, I’m hanging my head in shame).  They were obviously waiting for the right owner.  Whenever I remembered them up until now the baby was either too old or not suitable.  The hat should also have birds on it but there is a limit to how much intrasia knitting I’ll do.  The pattern is from Bright Knits for Kids by Debbie Bliss.  And I little pattern of my own for the same little one.

Photo of cute blue, pink, green, cream, brown v-neck baby cardigan with pink birds with yellow legs and matching stripy hat.

Photo of green ribbed baby hat with stunning matching ribbon bow.

To Do List 2

I think this may end up a blogging to do list

I decided to add the number of appearances on the TDL (get me)

* Finish jumper pattern and most of jumper (2)

* Make nosebands for donkeys (not mine) (2)

* Finish/knit mitten pattern – pattern done but not knit(2)

* Make hearts (2)

* Trousers turned into skirt (the miracle of sewing and the lack of material big enough) – cut out but needs sewing (2)

* Learn show and tell items for driving test (2)

* Get more stuff for mother in laws hamper

Too Cold for Fruit

I awoke this morning to the melodious clang of a spade on flags. I thought it must be our next door neighbour who believes, like me but with different things, that the devil makes work for idle hands. But no… it was my husband deciding that 6:45 was a good time to clear the drive around the car. I opened the window and graciously enquired what he was doing with worryingly scant regard that any passing neighbours would be able to view me in my pyjama top and Garfield knickers. (This also being the professional image I’d like to portray for my etsy shop!) I do get dressed before I ‘go to work’.

I tai chi’ed this morning with David Carradine who was looking remarkably well all things considered. It made a change from yoga and I surprised myself with my range of motion but didn’t push it.

Yesterday I sorted by fabric stash, I mean collection and wondered why on earth I’d bought some of them but had a good time finding things I’d forgotten about – I’m going to do some raw silk and organic cotton hearts for valentines. I threw some things away, tending to keep all leftover fabric when I make something ‘Just in case’. Some of these were smaller than the things in my scrap box. But in view of that and what moved location I still don’t seem to have gained a lot of space. I have yet to sort my haberdashery type items, beads, ribbons, etc.

I found my giant bead loom, I don’t think I’ve every loomed anything on it. I also bought a small one at the same time because obviously you need both two and did a little necklace which I wore once to a fancy dress party. They have both been a sound investment.

But maybe not today as today’s schedule has been ring my ISP and confuse them by asking if they do mobile broadband and being passed to technical support by sales and told that if my computer wasn’t connected by a wire to the router I could use it anywhere in the house! I explained that I wanted to use it outside the house and by this I didn’t mean the garden. Further advice had to be sought and the answer was no. I then spend half an hour on the phone with my mobile provider and now, hopefully, have it for 2 months and my dongle is being delivered tomorrow.

The other things I ‘need’ to do are

* Finish jumper pattern and most of jumper
* Make nosebands for donkeys (not mine)
* Finish/knit mitten pattern
* Make hearts
* Find material (which should now be easy) and make pair of trousers to wear tomorrow
* Learn show and tell items for driving test on Thurs weather permitting

I might do a To Do List everyday then I feel the need to complete it.

I also need to eat more fruit because it’s good for me. But it’s too cold for fruit. It’s hot chocolate and cake weather. Which made me think how come people who live with cold and snow all the time aren’t obese, what’s their secret? On Saturday I smoothied summer berries and mango with protein powder in a fruit eating effort. Then when I couldn’t finish it all do you know what I did? I froze it. I ate it yesterday and had a kind of body freeze after. No I can’t find the logic in that either. As they say here ‘There’s nowt as queer as folk!.
