Bananas in pyjamas, no wait – a bear in pyjamas!

I got my finger out and finished my first bear tonight – watched closely by Bud, who when introduced to Mr Bear attempted to greet him with a nibble on the nose.

Here he is sans pyjamas…

the mis-matched front and backs of the dressing gown?  Well it turns out that I wasn’t the problem – well in this particularly instance.  After finishing the jim jams I didn’t have enough variegated yarn for the dressing gown, so I re-knit it in another colour and as I was working up the first front I realised that there was no way that it was going to match the rows for the back – so I had to adjust the decreases to get them to end up the same length.  And here’s Mr Bear in his full outfit…

I think the second bear may turn out to be an Aviator Bear.  B meanwhile has stated that although I always deal with Christmas presents, and he has always had minimal involvement, that as presents go these bears potentially suck as gifts for the recipients concerned!  Well at least I know Bud likes the look of this one.

There’s something fishy going on!

I remember that I MAY have decided for some reason that now is unrememberable to commit to a Handmade Holiday this year!

I have as it turns out 28 presents  presents to buy, oh wait I mean MAKE and I have 17 days in which to do it – and that’s not including 50+ cards.  But as per the well known book and Lorna’s blog I’m not panic-ing!  (I have just met Slartibartfast in said book – it’s slow going because I don’t know if I’ve said but I have 28 presents to MAAAAAAAAAAKKKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEEE!)

It’s not as bad as it looks as 11 of the presents are for pets. So anyhoo I have extracted my digit and this is what I’ve done so far…

The pattern was from the aptly named Fishbone Crochet Pattern from Stripeyblue.  They are fun and quite quick.  Obviously since people who will be getting gifts from us (that’s B, Buddy and I – Buddy probably being potentially more help than B) I can’t say who is getting what – however I wonder if the mother in law would like a crochet fish bone?

So the current Handmade Holiday stats are

Made – 5/28 with 17 days to go!

Creative Space Thursday – Body Parts!

This week my creative space is full of Christmas present body parts…

Rabbit – 1 head, 1 body, 4 paws

Frog (yes, despite looking like some kind of box jelly fish it is indeed a frog) – 1 head, 1 body, 4 legs/feet and 12 yes, 12 toes – who knew a frog needed so many FIDDLY toes!

However I also have one finished bunny…

Well almost, he’s still sans tail…

(No bunnies were coerced into revealing their rear ends for the purposes of entertainment)
